The Stadium, spread over an area of nearly 9.5 acres, is built at an estimated cost of Rs 22 crore and was recently thrown open to the public by Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutt and chief minister Raman Singh.

To mark the occasion, an exhibition match was played between Governor's Eleven and CM's Eleven. Both teams comprised several international players like senior team captain Sardara Singh, Harjot Singh, Affan Yousuf among others.
