Bangladesh men whip Oman 6-1 to clinch Asian Games qualifiers, seal 2014 berth

Bangladesh clinched the Asian Games men’s hockey qualifiers thumping Oman 6-1 at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka. Puskhor Kisha Mimo and Hasan Jubair Niloy struck a brace for the winners while Mamunur Rahman Chayan and Sheikh Mohammad Nannu netted one goal each for Bangladesh. Rajab Basim Khatar scored the consolation goal for Oman, who were the last edition's champions.

Bangladesh maintained its unbeaten run in the tournament and sealed its berth in the 2014 Asian Games to be held in Incheon, Korea later this year. Besides qualifying for the Asian Games Bangladesh also exacted sweet revenge for their 2-4 loss to Oman in the 9th Asia Cup last year.

Runners-up Oman, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Iran and Chinese Taipei have also qualified for the 2014 Asian Games, with seventh and eight placed teams Qatar and Hong Kong missing out.
