Four Nations Women’s Hockey Tourney: Germany pip England 3-1

Sixth ranked Germany sprang a surprise when they humbled third ranked England 3-1 to post their second consecutive win in the Four Nations Women’s Hockey Tournament being played in Bremen, Germany.

England eves took the lead through Alex Danson before the Germans hit back with second half strikes to seal the issue. Lydia Haase first leveled the issue for Germany before Maike Stockel put them ahead three minutes later.

Kristina Hillmann scuppered England’s hopes of rebounding with a 63rd minute goal. This was England’s second loss – they earlier lost 2-4 to fourth ranked Australia in their opening encounter.
Australia swamped Japan 6-1 to consign the latter to their second straight defeat.
