Indian eves crush Malaysia 5-2, sweep Test series 6-0


The Indian women’s hockey team swamped Malaysia 5-2 to whitewash them 6-0 in the six Test series in Kuala Lumpur.  The Indian eves pulled ahead through Poonam Rani in the 3rd minute. Sunita Lakra whipped home a penalty corner in the 21st minute.
Trailing 0-2, Malaysia hit back with a margin-reducer, but India enhanced the lead through Anuradha in the 28th minute. Ritushah Arya then got into the act, scoring twice close to half-time. The Malaysians responded with their second goal in the second half, but India held firm to script a facile victory.
Earlier, India had won the fifth Test 2-0.  They had earlier won the fourth Test 3-0. They won the third Test 4-0. India had won the first two Tests by 5-0 and 2-0 margins.
