Indian team is making ‘progress’ says Australian legend Ric Charlesworth

Leaking late goals may have put a dampener on India’s World Cup campaign, but the national team is making ‘progress’ feels legendary Australian Ric Charlesworth.

Ric Charlesworth, who is the coach of the Australian men’s team, was quoted as saying in a leading news agency (PTI) that the Indian team is making progress, but will have to keep working hard in the coming years if they are to harbour hopes of making a podium finish in major tournaments.

The Aussie saw a lot ‘purpose’ with the way India played in the World Cup, but was categorical that the latter needs to improve on his hockey structure and resort to a long-term programme. He was of the opinion that expecting instant results won’t be proper and only a planned programme can take help India regain glory.

Charlesworth added that India must focus on improving their world ranking as it can give them the confidence to the players as well as to the fans.

He has no doubts that the Hero Hockey India League will make Indian even better.
