Malaysian World Cup head coach K. Dharmaraj bereaved

The Malaysian men’s hockey team suffered a 0-4 defeat to reigning champions Australia in their World Cup opener. The team had to endure another disappointment in the form of their head coach K. Dharmaraj losing his father hours before the start of their opening game.

K. Dharmaraj’s father, R. Kanniah, had passed away in Chennai, India following a heart attack. The Malaysian team head coach could not attend his funeral owing to the ongoing World Cup assignment.

It may be recalled that Dharmaraj was appointed as Malaysia’s coach in January this year after South African Paul Revington stepped down.
